Matt co-founded Waterman with Chris Marshall in 2004 and has over 25 years of direct private equity experience in New Zealand.

Matt is a Senior member of the Investment Committee.  His executive responsibilities are focused on deal origination, portfolio company leadership and investor relations.

He is currently a Director of PBT Group, NZCR and Crockers.

Matt was formerly a Director of Fusion5, Canopy Healthcare, Provincial Education, Academic Colleges Group, David Reid Homes, Guthrie Bowron and Express Logistics.

He was also Chairman of the NZ Private Capital Association from 2014 to 2018.

He is currently a Director of Healthcare Holdings and is also a non-Executive Director of Lewis Holdings Limited.

Chris was formerly a Director of My Food Bag, Manuka Health, HealthLink, David Reid Homes and Guthrie Bowron.

Jacques joined Waterman in 2011 and has over 12 years of direct private equity experience in New Zealand.  Prior to joining Waterman, Jacques held roles at Fonterra, Jamieson Corporate Finance (London), BSkyB (London) and Deloitte.

Jacques is a member of the Investment Committee and has overall responsibility for all Waterman operating activities.  His other executive responsibilities include deal origination, investment execution and portfolio company leadership.

He is currently a Director of PBT Group and NZCR.

Jacques was formerly a Director of Fusion5, Canopy Healthcare, Provincial Education and HealthLink and an Alternate Director of Academic Colleges Group and Manuka Health.

Andrew joined Waterman in early 2023 after 13 years at UBS NZ, most recently as Co-Head of Investment Banking.  Andrew also held prior roles at Lazard & Co. (London) and Deloitte.

Andrew is a member of the Investment Committee.  His executive responsibilities are focused on deal origination, investment execution and portfolio company leadership.  He also has overall responsibility for Waterman’s ESG function.

Andrew is currently a Director of Crockers and is a Council Member of the New Zealand Private Capital Association.

Phil is focused on leading Waterman’s value creation process, as well as portfolio company leadership.

He is currently a Director of Farro Fresh and was formerly a Director of My Food Bag and Guthrie Bowron.

He leads Waterman’s investment execution function.  Other executive responsibilities include deal origination and portfolio company leadership.

David is currently a Director of Farro Fresh and was formerly an Alternative Director of Fusion5.

Mitchell joined Waterman at the start of 2024 and has over two years of direct private equity experience in New Zealand.  Prior to joining Waterman, Mitchell held private equity and investment banking roles with STILL, Houlihan Lokey (London) and PwC.

He assists in leading Waterman’s investment execution function, as well as deal origination and portfolio company support.

Mitchell is currently an Alternate Director of PBT.

Sarah joined Waterman in 2025 with experience in Corporate Strategy and Operations roles in Australia.

Prior to Waterman, Sarah was in the Strategy teams at GenesisCare and Team Global Express, both private equity backed businesses. Sarah also worked in Strategy & Corporate Development at Lion and commenced her career investment banking at Credit Suisse in Sydney.

Sarah is focused on the execution of Waterman’s value creation process as well as providing portfolio company support.
